Why Watch Owners Trust hauwelle

There are plenty of places in KL that will take your watch apart. Here is what sets our approach apart from the rest.

Qualified Bench Staff

Our watchmakers hold formal horological qualifications and participate in ongoing skills development. Technical competence is not assumed — it is maintained.

Written Quotes Before Work

You will receive a clear written breakdown of what is needed and what it costs — before we touch a single component. No hidden charges appear later.

Instrument-Based Diagnostics

We rely on timing machines, magnification, and pressure testers to identify issues accurately rather than guessing based on symptoms alone.

Straight Talk

If your watch does not need a full overhaul, we will not recommend one. We tell you exactly what we find — the good and the bad — in language you can understand.

Work-Specific Warranty

Every service comes with a warranty covering the exact work performed. If something we did needs attention within the warranty period, we will take care of it.

Central KL Location

Our workshop on Jalan Hang Kasturi is easy to reach by public transport, situated in the historic area near Central Market. Walk-ins are welcome.

In Detail

A Closer Look at Each Advantage

Professional Expertise

Our head watchmaker has over 15 years of hands-on experience with Swiss and Japanese calibers, including movements from ETA, Sellita, Miyota, and Seiko. The rest of the team holds their own specialisations — from quartz electronics to cosmetic finishing. This is not a one-person operation where the same individual handles everything from intake to polishing.

We also invest in regular training to stay current with newer movement architectures and service procedures. Horology is a field where standing still means falling behind.

Tools and Methods

We equip our bench with professional-grade tools that match the work: a Witschi timing machine for multi-position regulation, ultrasonic baths for thorough component cleaning, and a Bergeon pressure tester for verifying case seal integrity. Each tool serves a specific purpose in our workflow.

Our lubrication protocol follows recommended practices — different grades of synthetic oil are applied to specific friction points depending on the component. It is a small detail, but using the wrong lubricant in the wrong place can undo an otherwise good service.

Communication and Transparency

From the moment you walk in, we want you to feel informed rather than confused. The assessment is explained in plain terms. The quote is itemised. And if anything changes during the service — say, we find an additional worn component once the movement is opened — you hear about it before we proceed.

We also provide updates throughout longer services. If your watch is with us for two weeks, you will not be left wondering what is happening. A quick message or call keeps you in the loop.

Fair and Considered Pricing

Our pricing reflects the actual work involved — the complexity of the caliber, the parts required, and the labour hours. We do not inflate quotes to pad margins, and we do not undercut to win jobs we cannot deliver on properly.

If a watch only needs a partial service rather than a full overhaul, that is what we recommend. Paying for work that is not needed does not benefit anyone.

Measurable Outcomes

We do not simply say the work is done — we show you. After regulation, you can see the timing machine readings. After water resistance testing, you get the pressure test result. After cosmetic work, you can compare the condition against the photos taken at intake.

This approach is not about impressing anyone. It is about accountability. If you can verify the result yourself, there is no room for ambiguity.

What Sets Us Apart

Distinctive Features of Our Workshop

Photographic Intake Records

We photograph every watch upon arrival — dial, caseback, and any areas of concern. This creates a clear record that protects both parties and helps you see the before-and-after difference once work is complete.

No-Upsell Policy

We recommend only the service your watch actually needs. If a watch just needs a new gasket and a clean, that is exactly what we will quote. There is no internal pressure to push more expensive services.

Direct Access to the Watchmaker

Unlike larger service centres where you speak only with a front-desk representative, at hauwelle you can discuss your watch directly with the person who will work on it. Questions get answered accurately, the first time.

Detailed Service Summary

When your watch is ready for collection, you receive a written summary of what was done — including any parts replaced, regulation results, and care recommendations for maintaining the timepiece going forward.
